North Carolina's Beloved is a quintet whose mission is to bridge the gap between hardcore and melody. Frankly, the boys do a stellar job of emulating Thursday, the current poster children for that new rock that major labels have gobbled and young ones across the country have embraced as of late, to the point of sterility. You can almost predict where the heavy parts are, and when the screaming starts, etc. Not to say that Beloved's 10-track endeavor isn't solid; by all accounts, it is constructed with flawless twin guitars and beacons of melodic light, thanks to the production of GGGarth Richardson. The fact is that these bands are becoming a dime a dozen, and Beloved is right at the head of that particular pack.
