Despite having one of the worst band names of all time, Generic Concession Stand redeems themselves by putting out heavy rock that falls somewhere between the robotic nature of Static X, the freewheeling rap-metal of Hed Pe and the low-end crush of Mudvayne as heard on their five-track affair FOREIGN. Having a live band behind their hip-hop moments amps “Elevated” up to Kid Rock levels while the somber piano intro on “Letting Go” radiates with a Linkin Park vibe gone grunge, yet the overall mission this Philadelphia-based squad attempts for fuses the tones and nuances from current metal with stabs at commercial rock stardom that would benefit from better production and guidance to help the smooth out the rough edges.
