Norwegian sextet Kvelertak have been making quite a global ruckus and with good reason as documented on this troupeís rabid 11-track eponymous debut. Juxtaposing the boisterous nature of hardcore punk with a slew of black metal overtones taken directly from their homeland, this raw offering (predominantly sung in their native tongue) relays a rabble-rousing triple-pronged guitar assault that is rounded out by barrages of hard driving caustic rhythms and fronted by a madman behind the microphone whose unmitigated fury leads this unitís contagious brand of chaos. Part Refused, part Turbonegro, and all parts kickass, all the time, Kvelertak has made a monstrous hybrid form of heaviness that is required listening for anyone and everyone that likes it loud.
