LORD MANTIS
SPAWNING THE NEPHILIM
SEVENTH RULE

Punishing and pummeling from the get-go, Chicago's Lord Mantis have developed an apocalyptic amalgamation that merges sludge, post-hardcore and black metal elements on the quartet's begrimed seven-track affair SPAWNING THE NEPHILIM. Relentlessly menacing the eardrums with assaults of furious sprawling riffs and explosive low-end rhythms rendering a thunderous sonic crunch ("Hit By a Bus"), this hulking beast thoroughly scours the depths of the depraved, unabashedly bearing teeth and claws ("Unnatural Dwarfism", "Zealot") while a cavalcade of tortured vocal shrills and bellowing growls guide the descent into darkness ("Push Tug Wipe"). Despite this nefarious unit's obvious aping of Neurosis spaz-outs, Mastodon rumblings, Today is the Day uneasiness and Bloodlet quirk, Lord Mantis wisely uses the aforementioned's wares to introduce their own unique vertigo-inducing discord ("Abducted by Aliens"), exuding a thorny and tumultuous bludgeoning for those who enjoy unapologetically getting run over.
