Seven tracks of black metal dripping with nihilism awaits you courtesy of Total Hate's DEPOPULATING PLANET EARTH. Brazen with an authentic underground production value that emits the vibes as if this disc was recorded in an echo chamber deep in the Earth's crust, the filthy guitar work and taut yet minimal percussion (played by a cat with the uber-metal name of Winterheart) of this German troupe allows the prominent tormented vocals to properly lead the procession into the catacombs on cuts like "Essence of Evil" and the particularly screechy "Decaptiation". Offering nothing new, Total Hate decide to pay homage to the pioneers of the genre instead, liberally borrowing odds and ends from everyone from Emperor to 1349 to Celtic Frost to concoct their dastardly brand of howling hostility.
