The long running New York death metal troupe Immolation return from another sojourn in Hell, and the quartet have been good enough to bring us an audible sample in the form of UNHOLY CULT, the veteran band's latest eight track offering. Dark and demonic, this band truly sounds like Satan's lounge act, as they have the uncanny knack for knocking the tar out of you with some of the most intense guitar work heard in the genre. Take the opener "Of Martyrs And Men" for example, a track that twists and turns like a knife into your skull, while keeping an air of ominous majesty abound. Blast beats and growled vocals are also staples of the Immolation death brigade, yet it always returns back to the twin guitar slam that pervades and conquers throughout the entire disc.
