Produced by Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows, the 10-track collection put forth by the quintet The Confession could easily be shrugged off as A7X's B-sides, which isn't necessarily a good thing. The Confession is a competent, yet run of the mill lot whose Brit metal meets pop punk fusing leaves a startling impression of...you guessed it (a third-rate one at that). Nonetheless, The Confession's testatrix approach to melodic metal doesn't really rock the boat as much as they help their main influence steer the ship straight into an iceberg. Yeah, there's a slew of cool guitar harmonies that run through tracks like "Time is Gone", but ultimately this mish-mash of today's pop metal a la Atreyu, Trivium, and the like is pretty tough to stomach, less digest.
