THE WAYWARD
THE WAYWARD
BLACK BOX

Caustic art school punk rock would be a good place to start when describing the Washington DC trio The Wayward, as this outfit, risen from the ashes of Carrion, play hard boiled indie rock with angular riffs and fire in their bellies. Loud but not overly threatening, this nine-track affair highlights a style that matches Fugazi with the Mars Volta, an odd mix that cohesively crashes into one another on tracks like "Corrosive Qualities" and the unorthodox time signatured "Balthazar". Noisy, disjointed, and full of vitriolic vigor, with songs like "Cross Section", The Wayward have effectively whipped up the perfect amalgamation of smashmouth and avant-garde punk rock for people that reject anything mainstream and embrace combining progressive thinking and hard music.
