BARRIERS AND PASSAGES
Tech metal soldiers Dysrhythmia couldn't have chosen a better name for their band, or their new album for that matter, as this tumultuous trio's latest mindtrip BARRIERS AND PASSAGES focuses on swirling sounds that will make your head spin and your ears overstuffed. This Philadelphia-based unit lay out a dizzying array of avant-garde metal with attention to detail, yet keep the musical soundscape somewhat accessible to the crowd that have a tough time with non-vocal music. Dashes of Rush, King Crimson, Candiria, Don Caballero, and Jesus Lizard strewn about in a classroom at the Julliard Music School can best describe this dastardly deluge of virtuoso playing and complex cacophony. If you like it adventurous, this disc is definitely worth a spin.
