TURRIGENOUS
THE DREAM AND THE RESONANCE LIVE
SELF-RELEASED

Long Island progressive metal unit Turrigenous showcases a set of commendable chops on the squad’s most recent excursion, a 12-track live version of their album THE DREAM AND THE RESONANCE. Captured at the band’s local haunt DJ Rider’s Rhythm and Brews before it closed down for good, the high quality of the recording immediately stands out, as does the intricate interplay the musicians share between each other, pulling off shifting influences from Fates Warning to Iron Maiden to Megadeth to Opeth without a stumble (“Bloodsick”). If not for the crowd’s cheering and clapping the rare times on this album when the band takes a break, this offering’s awe-inspiring technical work could pass for a proper studio effort, a testament to the exemplary musical ability of this troupe who fans of traditional metal with a progressive edge should definitely get to know. –Mike SOS
