After a 25-year delay marred by bad luck and tragedy, British metal outfit Hell finally comes around with a full-length release! Entitled HUMAN REMAINS, this veteran unit, featuring esteemed metal producer and Sabbat band member Andy Sneap both behind the board and in the fold on guitar replacing his late mentor Dave Halliday, have unleashed a histrionic heavy metal offering laden with a bevy of crushing riffs and evil operatic vocal harmonies aplenty. Adorned with an over the top delivery a la King Diamond or Savatage that truly renders Hell’s re-recorded work with the grandiose boost necessary to stamp them as timeless occult metal classics (“Blasphemy and the Master”), Hell’s theatrical approach on the NWOBHM style is bold and overwrought in cliché remains firmly entrenched in the classic metal vein, benefiting from Sneap’s expert production skills to flesh out the soaring vocal lines and demonic bombast in all of its glory (“The Devil’s Deadly Weapon”) and capture this squad at their full powered modern sounding best. If you hanker for the glory days of metal, this disc will more than satisfy the craving.
