Shamefully derivative of all things Cavalera, Hungarian metal squad Ektomorf exhaust their choice of style on the veteran band’s latest excursion REDEMPTION. This 12-track release sounds like leftovers from latter-day Sepultura sessions with dashes of riffs directly from Max’s modern day project’s cutting room floor. In fact, sans the haunting flannel acoustic vibe on “Sea of Misery” and the Danko Jones guest vocal heard on “The One” and a slice of nu-metal rap rock that sounds about 10 years too late (“Revolution”), this disc could easily pass for the new Soulfly album with really simple lyrics and a lowest common denominator mentality on at full capacity.
