It's a shame that it has to end this way, but it seems that the uber-influential crossover metal band SOD has called it quits and RISE OF THE INFIDELS is the NYC outfit's swan song. Even worse is that the album that Billy Milano and company left us with a very uneven farewell disc. From the four leftover studio tracks that lack punch which go down as smooth as last night's pasta to a solid yet unspectacular live gig from Seattle where the band opens up with their patented "Ballad of ..." series eulogizing hometown hero Kurt Cobain, this 24-track disc is far from crucial and is probably best recommended for ardent fans only, as it lacks the inspiration and sheer firepower this band was once capable of.
