THE RED CHORD
PREY FOR EYES
The Red Chord stands out amongst the immense number of maniacal metal bands out there thanks in part to their unique lyrical content, an area where the Massachusetts-based 14-track PREY FOR EYES once again has other bands beat hands down in their merciless grip. While on a whole the band has considerably stepped up its game, as the collection grinds, grooves, and decimates with riffs from hell, morphing into a shapeshifting monster who menaces then maims all in its path at any given moment ("Seminar", "Responsibles", "It Runs in the Family"). But ultimately, it's the twisted visions, jawdropping anecdotes, and second-hand tellings via the commanding death growl of Guy Kozowyk that propel the madness, heard on cuts like "Pray for Eyes" and "Birdbath", to spiral into unorthodox metallic realms.
