BLACK CLOUDS IN TWIN GALAXIES
Doom metal with a predilection for grunge and garage rock is what UK unit Winters presents on the 11-track BLACK CLOUDS IN TWIN GALAXIES. Armed with a nasal vocal delivery evoking Kurt Cobain's and J. Mascis as Cathedral acts as the accompanying band behind these hypnotically-constructed preposterous walls of sound, tracks like "Mark My Word" and "Aftershown" shake the foundations with ominous riffs and deliberately measured rhythms, while the sprawling "Life Was So Simple" sounds as if The Who were slowed down in half. And if you listen through all the syrupy guitars and viscous bass and drums, there are some pretty damn catchy harmonies here that will be burnt into your brain and be hummed throughout the course of any average Tuesday. Winters turns the boundaries of heavy psychedelic music upside down, creating an album laden with acid-flashback excellence.
