GOD LUCK AND GOOD SPEED
Redneck sludge metal at its finest is what Weedeater, the trio that looks as if it just stepped off of the set of DELIVERANCE, present on the cleverly titled GOD LUCK AND GOOD SPEED. Produced by Steve Albini, this veteran North Carolina gang steps its game up considerably here, riding the wave of soul stoned glory on buzzing jams like "$20 Peanut" and the colossal "Weed Monkey". Hell, they even throw in a somber yet twisted back porch banjo jamboree produced by COC's Mike Dean ("Alone") as well as a scalding cover of Skynyrd's "Gimme Back My Bullets" for some added texture. It's not as if they needed it though, as the proper dosage of diabolic howls, syrupy rhythms, and metallic, monolithic bliss has been dispersed in large increments across eight divine excursions exploding with earth-shaking vigor.
