BLOOD OF THE BLACK OWL
BLOOD OF THE BLACK OWL
BINDRUNE

Another misanthropic one-man show comes courtesy of Chet W. Scott via the project Blood of the Black Owl. Meshing black metal creepiness with pagan folk noise and funeral doom expansiveness, this seven-track disc clocks in at an ethereal 70 minutes. Due to the well-measured composition and sensational array of instrumentation used on tracks like "Hammer Comes Falling Down" however, you're not checking your watch at the tenth minute of "Kills in Timber", but you may have to check your pulse to make sure everything is still OK outside of the mystical realm created. And with a buzzing dissonance commanding songs such as the prime candidate for song title of 2007 "Like a Coffin Chasing the Womb, His Chariot Becomes a Southern Bloodstorm", there's enough for the truly disenchanted to mope along with here as well.
