UPSIDE
JIM BEAM AND THE AMERICAN DREAM
TRIBUNAL

The album title to the latest album by Upside is brilliant. The quartet's music...not so much, though the 11-track disc does showcase an interesting blend of '80s hard rock and Warped Tour punk rock across the span of JIM BEAM AND THE AMERICAN DREAM. They do have a bit of Hinder meets Silvertide in their blood, as this Texas group has the knack to keep it tender for the gals and heavy for the guys the way that bands like Nickelback can pull off. Yet as innocuous as songs like "Silence Says it All" and "Watch it Fade" can be, there's a touch of gritty riff rock revealed on tracks like "Monday" and "Campfire Vampires" where everyone can rock out regardless of back patches and fashion statements.
