ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET
ERROR IN EVOLUTION
The second blast of melodic death metal bashings comes from One Man Army and the Undead Quartet in the form of the 10-track ERROR IN EVOLUTION, a no holds barred
thrashy affair. Armed with a hard rock swagger and fortified with a wicked assortment of Swedish metal guitars and death 'n roll rhythms, tracks like "Such a Sick Boy" come off as menacing as intended without any hint of forced entry or contrived notions, while their cover of Alice Cooper's "He's Back" gives the song a shot in the arm for the 21st Century. While few may complain about the sameness of the guitar chugs and mid-tempo arrangements, songs like "The Sun Never Shines" and "Nightmare in Ashes and Blood" emit the proper grim realities with the perfect quantity of guitar heroics, raspy death growls, and overtly metallic goodness to excuse the comparisons. Solid all around, fans of The Haunted, Arch Enemy, and Children of Bodom as well as lead vocalist's Johan Lindstrand's last group The Crown will eat this one up.
